My name is Monse (mon-z) Martinez and my official journey in this industry started at my first counter job at the age of 14. Little did I know at the time that in 2020 I would begin my official piercing apprenticeship giving me the opportunity to join a community full of creativity and innovation. Now 6 years in I am learning, advancing, and challenging myself to be the best I can at my craft.

My mission at Cometa is to ensure every clients has access to safe and quality materials. Being a single use studio means no instrument or tool is shared between clients. I strive to keep the space as welcoming and comfortable as possible for every client.

  • Short answer, yes! Cometa has a strict minor policy in order to protect the safety and well-being of young clients

    • Children’s initial ear lobe piercings start at 8 years and up.

    • Appointment is required.

    • Minor MUST have ID at very visit. A birth certificate, passport or military ID is accepted. NO ID. NO SERVICE.

    • Valid ID is required for the parent/legal guardian accompanying the minor at every visit. Only the legal guardian is allowed to consent on behalf of the minor. If I suspect someone other than the legal guardian is accompanying the minor I will refuse service. NO EXCEPTIONS.

    • Deposits are NOT refundable even if your child changes their mind. Please make sure your child is ready to get piercings before booking an appointment.

    • Guardian(s) are not allowed to force or hold down their child during the procedure. It is not safe for me and it is not safe for your child.

    • Initial earlobes 8+

    • Cartilage (excluding industrials) 14+

    • Face piercings, industrials & navels 16+ (excluding tongue & bridge)

    • 18+ (tongue, dermals, nipples)

  • I do not perform: smiley, frowny or snake eye piercings. If you have a question about piercings I do not perform please reach out!

  • Of course! My space is limited so I do have to limit it to 2 guests MAX.

  • Currently I am only able to offer limited piercing services so I ask you contact me first to ensure I have the right materials I need to pierce you.

    I am accepting walk-ins but I cannot guarantee availability or your specific piercing service. Booking an appointment ensures I have the time, supplies, and jewelry for your specific piercing.

  • Most piercings start at $40 NOT including jewelry. Final cost is dependent on your jewelry selection.

    Please contact for pricing for nipples and dermals.

  • All jewelry is titanium; either internally threaded or threadless. Rings are seamless or hinged.

    Gold options are limited but I am more than happy to custom order a piece for you if I do not have what you are looking for!

  • I recommend arriving for your new piercing on a full stomach, well hydrated and rested. Comfortable clothing helps too. You are welcome to bring ibuprofen with you to help ease minor discomfort and swelling after your piercing.

Policies

  1. No ID, no piercing, no exceptions

  2. No photography or filming in the piercing room.

  3. My space is small so you are allowed 2 guests with you MAX during your piercing service.

  4. A completed consent and release form is required at every visit. All the information is kept private and secure. You are welcome to fill it out prior to your appointment or when you arrive.

  5. Guardian(s) accompanying their child are not allowed to force or hold down their child during the piercing procedure. It is not safe for me or your child. Please refer to FAQ’s for more details

  6. Respect

    • Clients are expected to behave respectfully during their piercing service. No violent behavior or harmful language is allowed towards any other client, myself, or other member in the studio. I strive to keep the environment calm, welcoming and safe for all. Anyone unable to treat the space with respect will be denied service.

  7. Appointments require a nonrefundable $20 deposit which is applied to the total of your piercing.

    • Deposit is refundable if I need to reschedule or cancel your appointment! I will contact you asap if I must reschedule.

Aftercare

Aftercare Do’s and Don’ts

There are only 4 things you need to remember to heal most piercings.

Keep the area clean with sterile saline.

Keep the area dry.

Do not touch the area unless you must.

Downsize/upsize when needed.

Always thoroughly wash your hands prior to cleaning or touching your jewelry!

Spray sterile saline directly on your piercing or use a fully moistened cotton swab to GENTLY apply the saline around the piercing. GENTLY remove any ‘crusties’ or build up from the piercing site. Try not to move your fresh piercing too much as it can cause irritation. Please do not twist, spin, or rotate your jewelry. Stability is key to a happy piercing.

For oral piercings use alcohol free mouth wash, saline or cold water to keep the piercing clean. Be sure to read the label on your mouth wash so you do not overuse the product.

Localized swelling, some bleeding, tenderness and bruising are normal during the initial healing phase. You may notice your piercing secreting whitish-yellow fluid that dries into a crust on or around your jewelry. That is normal part of the healing process.

During healing you may also experience itchiness, discoloration or darkening of tissue, or swelling that comes and goes. These are all normal as well but please reach out with any concerns.

Please remember that a piercing is an open wound in your body. Do not submerge your fresh piercing in water as it is an infection risk. This includes but is not limited to hot tubs, baths, pools, oceans, lakes, etc. Contact your physician if you suspect an infection!

Do not use alcohol, ointments, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial soaps, tea tree oil, iodine, Bactine or BZK to clean your piercing. These products are too harsh or not intended for long term wound care.

Many piercings require a downsize. Longer posts or bars are used for new piercings to allow room for swelling. Once the swelling goes away it is important to downsize the length of your jewelry to avoid unnecessary irritation to the healing piercing. Swelling lasts different amounts of time depending on the piercing. If the swelling has not been present for about a week then it is stable enough to downsize. If the swelling goes away and comes back the following day please give it more time before downsizing. Please contact me if you have any questions about when to downsize.

It is important to not sleep or allow prolonged pressure on your piercings as this can irritate them and cause them to shift.

Leave your jewelry in at all times! This includes healed piercings too. Even piercings that are years old can close quickly.
